Why sameAs?

• Avoids the asserting n squared triples problem
• Does not create a new ID
• Lifts equivalence management out to be managed separately, as it often has different
• Facilitates distributed management
• Facilitates collaborative solutions
• Makes it possible to publish the data that was possibly only kept privately
• Allows contexts to be captured by multiple stores applied to the same data
• Facilitates deprecation of IDs gracefully
• Gives meaning to dead IDs
• Can work with differentFrom

We could use this for name lookup by

1. if we don't have a shorter path to a name
2. look up the url using sameas.org
3. see if there is an equivalent url we do know how to find a name for
4. look up the name for the equivalent url
