Both as an image format for loading/saving (already done on Mac) as well as embedded in PDFs (PDF standard 1.5). A couple things to consider:

Should PDFs use this by default? The safest option is to make it a setting.
Should internal processing use JPEG2000 instead of JPEG in some or all cases? This may be necessary to maintain full image quality.

Any plans for adding this option also on Windows? Can I pass a custom argument to the PDF exporter binary for JPEG2000?
