Pixel 6 Pro - Light level 1 is literally 100% #15

When I toggle level 1 flashlight, it always goes to maximum brightness when level 45 is the maximum. However when I go to level 2 it's fixed and then going back to Level 1 it's completely fine then.

Is it just a "normal" app launch? Or via Quick Settings toggle or something?

And what are your settings? Does the flashlight activate when opening the app?

fillwithjoy1 commented 1 year ago

Thank you for your response. To clarify, the issue occurs in both scenarios: when launching the app normally and when using the Quick Settings toggle. Regardless of the method used to activate the flashlight, level 1 brightness always goes to the maximum (level 45) initially. It only gets fixed when I switch to level 2 and then go back to level 1.

As for my settings, yes, the flashlight activates when I open the app. I face the same problem regardless of my current settings. Please let me know if you need any additional information to help resolve this issue.

Thank you for the additional information. What is the Initial Light Level set to in the settings?

fillwithjoy1 commented 1 year ago

I'm not sure how to replicate this actually. It seems to be very temperamental on when the bug decides to occur. I'll keep an eye if the bug re-appears

Alright. That would still be interesting though.

gcb commented 1 year ago

i cannot replicate. always worked fine on a pixel 6 pro here.

...that is until last update. since last update, no matter the level, led is always Off. until i change the level. e.g. default level 1, auto flash; open app. shows level 1, led is off; touch minimum button. led remains off; change level to anything else, even off; from then on it works fine, even for level 1.

before last update, it would start on level 1 just fine. now, regardless of level, it starts off

edit: was double checking if auto flash with max level really started with led off, and i noticed that on all levels, it starts ok for a brief second and then turns off! obviously it's so fast i can only notice when the initial level is high.

cyb3rko commented 1 year ago

Hi @gcb, sorry to hear that.
Would you say it's the same behaviour as described in the issue description? If so, we can reopen this issue.

Can you check for me which version you are using?
I will take a look at that problem in the next few days.

gcb commented 1 year ago

my bad. didn't notice it was closed.

I'm on 1.4.0(16) running on a13 (33).

i think it's the opposite 😅

cyb3rko commented 1 year ago

Then please just open a new issue, I don't want to mix things up here. :)

fillwithjoy1 commented 1 year ago

Yes this behaviour is occurring again. I hit the minimum light level and it uses the maximum light level then turn off and then hit the minimum light level again and the error is re-occurring. Basically the process looks like this to re-produce Off > Minimum light level > Off > Minimum light level > Repeat
