I followed BitAlias project since inception. Recently it's founder announce Aethernity project. That is smart. Blockstack has much more superior and already working solution. Let look under the hood. My thoughts:

Eternity should not be treated as generalized blockchain though Turing complete scripting is possible. Focus on smart oracles and prediction markets. I would say that this can be exhaustive smart contracts platform for prediction markets. A paper is a technical overview of ideas and has no description of incentives structure, consensus implementation, and AEON (native token) distribution.

Features

• Very scalable design for it's purpose based on payment channels
• Pure functional Turing-complete scripting as a foundation
• Time and volume limiting on storage and execution
• Likely vastly cheaper oracles than Ethereum based
• Vastly cheaper transactions than Gnosis and Augur
• Erlang proof of concept implementation is available on Github
• Scripting language can be reviewed on Github

Summary

Eternity is an exciting development and can be an interesting experiment in the development of ever expanding blockchain space. #satoshifund will follow up these developments with great pleasure.
