Firefox and Safari not displaying pins on map #167

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What versions of WordPress and Geo Mashup are you using?
WP 2.7, GM 1.2beta1

For a feature request, describe the feature. For problems, describe the
problem and provide a URL where the problem is happening.

I'm having problems seeing pins on the map for Windows Firefox and other
users have reported it for their macs on Safari and Firefox.

In Internet Explorer, I have no problem at all. Is there anything obvious
I should do that might resolve this issue?

I used to be able to see the pins on Firefox, I swear! Now I don't know why
I can't see them any more.

Thanks in advance!

Try updating your options - I think this could be related to the category
problem in
Issue 168. You shouldn't have to change anything, just update.

I have the same problem here after updating from 1.1.3 to 1.2 beta1.

Unfortunately the "Issue 168" solution doesn't work.

After some testing I discovered that this doesn't happen if I installed the 1.2
beta1
on a fresh wordpress installation.

I tried the update option and that worked. I'm asking my mac buddies to see if
they
can see the pins, too. Will reply when I have an update.

Thanks for the help!
A few moments ago I went to my site again and it just worked. I don't know whats
going on. I swear I tested it on 4 different PC and it didn't work. Now it just
does
again.

Sorry!

I just tested this again. I lost my pins once more. So I updated Options again.
The
pins came back. It seems each time I add a new category, I have to save the
Options
in Geo Mashup.

Thanks for testing, I'll open this up again, although I hope it will be
resolved with
Issue 168.

I'm not seeing this in 1.2 - I'd like to know if anyone else is.

Hi,

I'm experiencing the exact same (WP 2.7 / GM 1.2); pins don't show in Firefox
on mac, they do show on Safari
on my mac, but not on Safari on another mac. Options solution (Issue 168)
doesn't work for me. Sorry to spoil
the party. Any ideas?

Thnx
Marc

I think I've found the solution to this; I orignally installed this plugin
while running WP dashboard within Safari (4
public beta) and experienced problems described in above posts. After
deactivating in Safari and activating in
Firefox all problems are gone. Also other plugins seem to work better
crossbrowser on a Mac when installed via
Firefox, so I'm sticking to that for now. I haven't tested on PC but will let
you know if I experience any further
problems. Cheers.

Wow - I don't know quite what to make of that, but hopefully it will help some
others. I'll keep the issue open, if anyone can verify the workaround or provide
details about what might be going wrong please report back.

I should have flagged this as a possible defect.

We can forget about my comment #11 all toghether; the real issue was with the
plugin
"Category Access" that enables you to set the category access on a per
author/contributor basis. If I deactivate the Category Access plugin then all
problems dissappear! Working fine now. Cheers!

I see pins, but none are in colors matching the categories. Is this the same
problem
discussed here, or a new issue (old issue) ?

I've been working with some mac folks and haven't heard any more reports of
this, so
I'm going to close it for now. Please respond if you still have the issue.
