As for polar opposites (evil / good) variations, what if we just made 2 somewhat good and two really good variations for the opposites?
If this goes in as is, it sounds a little too OP. Unless you're high up with your chosen god, maybe have some debuffs such as slower speed while holding it or slower swings. Alternatively, just make it really hard to get.
It wouldnt be that hard to get. The base model that is, there is a system we have been flowing where a weapon has two polarities.
Polar A (EXTREME) Polar A (minor) Normal Polar B (minor) Polar B (EXTREME)
Polar variations are much harder to get than the normal weapon, and it is even harder to get extreme polar weapons, for example https://github.com/ProjectOberon/Concept/wiki/The-Crusader
The Venerated & Damned Crusader weapons are very very rare, while the normal crusader is very common.
Also, dont focus on combat balancing, remember, this isnt bukkit, so the animation for a mace is vastly different than a sword or gladius.
It just sounds too OP right now
What are you comparing it to? The crusader? I would say they are pretty close to each other.
There are damage types. A mace would do a ton of blunt damage, while a crusader would do slash damage
For example
Weapon | Damage Type |
---|---|
Crusader | 80% SLASH + 20% PUNCTURE |
Gladius | 70% BLUNT + 10% SLASH + 20% PUNCTURE |
Spada | 70% PUNCTURE + 30% SLASH |
Morning Star | 80% BLUNT + 20% PUNCTURE |
However armor has resistances
Armor Type | Damage Resistance |
---|---|
Shields | Effective against elemental damage + puncture damage |
Light Armor | Effective against slash damage, blunt damage is unaffected |
Chain Armor | Effective against slash & puncture damage |
Plate Armor | Effective against slash & blunt damage |
Additionally, we havent even gone over damage values, weapon "stamina" times, or even swing time. Finally, this cant really ever be overpowered... You are slaying monsters and bosses, not other players. This isnt kohi, this is an rpg.
Please explain what you find "OP" about it so we can fix it
Is the concept op? The name even?
tbh, i dont think i dont want another name other than the morning star.... ehem, @Puretie remembers.
Please don't.
I know the truth about the naming here.
It needs to have a "smash" button
Pulverizing Crushing Base Demolishing Decimating
So,
Pulverizing Morning Star Crushing Morning Star Morning Star Demolishing Morning Star Decimating Morning Star
A rod with a metal ball covered in sharpened spikes on the end. Served as a great all-rounder in war, as the blunt impact worked great on wearing down heavily armored foes, while the spikes made short work of anything fleshy.
