This sounds good!
However, could you draw some usage scenarios to illustrate the feature you want? (ex: How do you want to display the level sections like H1, H2, list, sublist...)
And why is it hard to keep track right now? (Do you mean you want to track the sections in the markdown file already shown in the canvas?)
This would help me to think about how to implement this feature.
And I want to apologize that I don't have much time to work on this project recently, so it will likely take more time before I can release an updated version of this plugin.
Hello, Thank you for responding.
The idea is: When I write my notes in a lecture, the way its structured is not ideal.
Therefore, I want a method to be able to quickly rebuild my understanding.
So the workflow is as follows:
write my notes in a lecture, Then I go to canvas and split all lines into their own cards, Then I can very easily group ideas that I believe fit a very similar theme, and will therefore be used to in similar paragraphs.
The current method is not bad at all actually. Its just I wanted a quick way to split everything at once.
If possible, splitting per line, would be best. Though, maybe offering a split by header 1, or header 2 etc could also be an option?
For me, I dont need to cut. Even link for me is not needed. This is just a visual way to organize my ideas. And once I am done organizing my ideas, and I wrote my paragraphs, I will delete the canvas.
So for me personally, I don't need to use it further. I guess I am asking for 2 features...
Thanks for your sharing.
I would also like to know more detailed steps in your current workflow.
If you need it, I think the link is required so that you can sync the change to the original note.
I think the feature you want is similar to this #4
It seems lots of users want this feature, so I hope get more suggestions about this feature.
If anyone like to see this feature added to this plugin, please free to leave your suggestions or share the ideal workflow with this feature in this feature request issue.
- When you encounter something that needs to be modified during the reorganization process (such as correcting a typo or rewriting a paragraph with a new idea), do you need to rewrite the note by node editor on the canvas?
If you need it, I think the link is required so that you can sync the change to the original note.
As of right now I attach a block link to every line with quick add as a I am writing. So that If I need to edit something in the note, I click, the block link I made in the note, but in excalidraw/canvas. I know cardiffy plugin offers this splitting feature, but the block id of the block link i attach and the block id it attaches to split everything can be a but buggy. It doesnt even block link everything anyway, some lines are left not linked.
That's why if possible, I only really care about the visual display feature. If you CAN make it link nicely, that would be very good. But if not, the visual display of all lines is the most important part.
- How do you rebuild your note when you want to change the order of paragraphs using the current plugin? Do you copy and paste to rearrange the text? When you do this, do you modify the original note by cutting the paragraph and pasting it to the new line, or do you just create a new note to let you copy and paste the paragraph you want to reorder?
I do not modify the original note. That served its purpose as the capture note (the note meant for initially capturing the information). I have a query that renders lines with specific tags. I tag everything that I think is a group, and then display that group while I am rewriting (my rewritten notes are in a separate note). In this stage Its not ideal to copy and paste the reordered lines, I usually put everything into my own words.
Is this still in the works?
Sorry, I have some projects to handle at work. So this feature might take some time to roll out.
Hello, I love your plugin!
Can you make a setting that allows us to auto link/cut all sections into a card mode?
After doing my Writing I like going to canvas and moving the cards, so I can reorganize.
But having to do one by one is a bit tiresome.
And its hard to keep track which ones Ive taken out and which ones I have yet to take out.
So it would be good, if the setting just took out everything at once and has it laid out ready for movement.
If linking is the issue, personally I don't need the cards to be linked. Just as long as they are displayed in front of me.
