Please, we need a Linux version of Keynote ! #151

I know that many people dream about having a Linux version for Keynote.

Exporting to TXT and RTF is already a great feature. So I can still access
the notes when I switch to Linux opening the exported txt or rtf files

However, a Linux version for Keynote would be awesome.

There is no other program like Keynote (free, open source, or commercial)
that can be really compared to Keynote. Keynote is the best hierarchical
tree editor, by far.

This would be great. I'm using the old Keynote 1.6.5 under WINE, and with a few
settings tweaks it sort-of runs OK (though dialogue boxes and a few other
things are
a little sketchy). If I try to run Keynote-nf, it's just too unstable to use.

Even ensuring wine compatibility would be good enough for most people on linux-
wine
is easy to install in almost every distro, and the few tweaks required to get it
working would make a world of difference. Thanks!

A linux version version should be possible in the future because keynote and
keynote.NF are developped in ObjectPascal with Delphi which is not a
multiplatform
tool. But it is very compatble with Freepascal/Lazarus which is available on
both
windows and Linux (and Mac).

But it is a huge work to convert all the files, recompile and track the (few)
incompatibilities especially because i didn't understand the architecture of
the code.

It would be a great service to have a linux version.

The one and the only reason why I have to have a dual boot system. Wine works,
but
as has been reported there are issues.

Although not a programmer, I would pitch in and help in any way possible to
help make
Linux version a reality.

I too would like this functionality: via WINE, I think is the most realistic
expectation...

Until that happy day though...

My main complaint with the old keynote running under WINE is that hyper-links
don't
seem to be recognised. Has anyone got a fix for this?( I'm wondering if there
is a
windows dll that can be used to supply RTF support or some such)

Regards to all

I would love Keynote NF for linux. I find keynote's basic text based
functionality far superior to the more complex, idiosyncratic systems of other
note programs. Maybe you could post a project proposal on kickstarter.com or
just post a paypal link and dollar target. I don't want you to go commercial,
but I'd contribute dollars to bring it into existence.

I am a big fan of Keynote & Keynote NF
& still using it daily.

The closest online alternative would be ipim.me supports hierarchical tree
editor. I am using both of them.

I'ved used KeyNote for many years. I am glad to see it is still being
developed. I have yet to find a better application out there that does what
KeyNote does.

I also would love to see a version for Linux. Even OSX!

I used Keynote for many years, but the lack of development (and my hesitance to
pick it up) as made me look for alternatives.

I have found that Notecase Pro (http://www.notecasepro.com/) to be an
affordable, cross platform solution.

It was even able to import my original Keynote files so I did not have to redo
them.

I vote up as well. I will contribute to the project through KickStarter or
PayPal.

I think new Delphi already supports Linux and OSX natively as described here:

In July 2010 I posted here stating I would be willing to PayPal towards linux.
In July 2013 I decided to start using Notecase Pro.

Today I can still testify that Notecase Pro is awesome. I recommend it. And it
is not more expensive than I would have been willing to PayPal.

1 more vote for Linux.

Meanwhile, I am using this one on Linux - http://ipim.com - it's a webapp
though.

I'm running a wine version, but haven't used it as much as i did in Windows os.
Its great to know there an online webtaking app like ipim. I'm going to try
cherrytree and I'll see how it goes as a backup notetaking app, but never the
less I would love to see a linux version of keynotes nf. I really like it!

I've run NF under Wine in both Mint 17 and PCLinuxOS w/o problems; but agree a
Linux version would be great! Is there a place for paypal contributions?
