it would be nice to have rulers to help formatting the tdocuments.

Yes, I can't even say how often I paste a tab-delimited array into keynote and 
I'm frustrated because the columns are completely wrong and I have to insert 
meaningless tabs to make them appear right again. I guess this frature is 
non-trivial to implement, but it would be so useful... If it makes things 
easier to implement, instead of a user-friendly ruler, this could be 
implemented as dialog which would display indents, margins and a tab stop list. 
The dialog would be much less user-friendly but it would be a huge improvement 
over the current situation.

Sorry, there is already such a dialog. Just add a tab list and I'll be quite 
happy :-)
