Cyrillic plain text in old .knt files is shown as Western characters #202

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a .knt file created by KeyNote NF 1.7.6 which contains Cyrillic
text in tree notes saved as plain text
2. All Cyrillic characters are shown as Western (i.e. can't be read)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Cyrillic characters must be shown as Cyrillic :(

What version are you using? On what operating system?
1.7.8.1/Windows XP

Please provide any additional information below.
Just a thought, maybe it is because Keynote NF 1.7.8.1 saves Cyrillic text
as Unicode whereas 1.7.6 saves it as ANSI.

Actually, this happens even with new file created in Keynote NF 1.7.8.1 with
notes
which have "Plain text only" checked. Just re-open such file and all Cyrillic
characters are shown as Western :(
Therefore returning back to 1.7.6 now...

Hello, have you tried the Fix available from issue #198?

Thank you! It seems to be OK now.

But there is another, maybe related, issue. Here are the steps to reproduce:
1. Open or create some .knt file with Cyrillic words in its pathname
2. Modify the file and save it
3. Restart KeyNote NF
4. Use menu File -> Recent Files : there are garbage instead of Cyrillis words
in
file's pathname

It seems the file pathname is stored as Unicode, but is shown as non-Unicode in
the menu.

I also observed strange redrawing bug of KeyNoteNF's status-bar when switching
some
.knt files by clicking on file pathname from tool-bar's drop-down list of recent
files. But this issue is not reproduced with all .knt files - it seems to
appear when
switching to a big .knt file with a large tree.

The both issues are present in 1.7.8.1 and pre-1.7.8.2.

P.S.
Just in case, want to tell you that you are doing a great work! Thanks!

Resolved with the correction of issue #198

dw81, thanks for your words!

In relation to what you said about File -> Recent Files, could you attach an
empty
KeyNote file that has a name in Cyrillic, to try for myself? When I receive it
will
report a new issue.
