libtcmalloc.so and other .so and .a files do not build in 2.0 #434

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. make gperftools 2.0
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
.so and .a files are expected libtcmalloc.so is vital component. libtcmalloc.pc 
seen instead

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
2.0 on Centos4

Please provide any additional information below.
updated from 1.5 to 2.0 and tcmalloc nolonger builds

Yes. Most likely related to issue 438. Sounds like there is a bit of porting 
effort needed to continue support for RHEL 4. Any chance you have cycles to 
look into this further Ocasta181?

For google performance tools 2.0, libraries are not getting built for Solaris.
The libraries generated are libtcmalloc.la etc. 
Any suggestions?

For issues on solaris consider adding information on one of existing tickets or 
creating new.

This ticket appears to mention centos 4. And I'm closing it because I've seen 
myself that it works with latest release
