Could you please try using DevilutionX, also can you calculate and provide the MD5 value of your diabdat.mpq file, that way we can see if it has been damaged.
thank you for getting back to me on this, but i had a friend call me and help me thru the process and got it up and working!!

Description: After installing my original copy of Diablo1 to my computer, i went to link my MPQ and thats when the error pops up. ive tried 3 times so far, and first 2 tries that error pops up, on the 3rd try it sticks on an all black screen that says loading. After the 3rd attempt i tried to open the game thru the cd client not the website version, and now my game wont even open saying it cant find the mpq file at all, and even when i look at the contents of the disc that file isnt there, please help!
