Extension or online versión? and some doubts #40

Open MarddleDoo12 opened 3 months ago

MarddleDoo12 commented 3 months ago

I saw that there is both an online version and an extension, and I wanted to know what the difference is.

By the way:

I am using the extension in Kiwi browser, I did the "chrome://newtab" thing too, but when I open kiwi, it opens in the original NTP,I have to reload the page to go to NextNTP, is there a way to fix it? If there is no way, it doesn't matter, thanks for this incredible extension.

To clarify: When I put "chrome://newtab" and exit and return to settings, it is back to "modern NTP" but the extension still works to clarify, so maybe that is the problem. Screenshot_20240510-085714

Hello there! online version: it's a website, so all resources need to be loaded with internet, and this version can be set up almost anywhere there is a browser extension: I built this version especially for Kiwi users to improve the loading speed, where a part of the NextNTP is offline as part of the extension, that allows to have a faster loading time of the resources ( although internet is still required for loading pages . news etc )

I haven't been able to reproduce the issue when setting the chrome://newtab, really weird but I know there are a lot of users with this issue, are you on the latest build of Kiwi?

So it appears I was wrong. I must have been importing a pre 2.0.0 export that led me to think everything stated above. However, it appears there may also be another minor bug at play. I discovered that I was mistaken by importing a newly created export which reflected my preferred Dracula theme and had the associated "bat" logo at the top of the page, however before I could update my comment to reflect my newfound/adjusted opinion on the matter, the "bat" logo had reverted to the default Kiwi/NextNTP logo. Also, the themes colors seem to revert to the way an earlier version of NextNTP would behave when importing an export from a more recent version. So I wasn't entirely mistaken but I wasn't exactly correct either. Good luck with that one, Ed 🤣 Seriously, this one is a head scratcher. Might not be worth messing with.

PS you can see a screenshot of the logo reverting to default post successful import in the separate issue I created an hour or so ago #43
