Have you tried to run the EOSCard utility As Administrator ?
If it's not helping, please consider this "NOTE" from the
FirmwareHackInstallation (in Preparing section):
[NOTE: Some Win7 users reported that no method was working for them; install
VirtualBox with Linux LiveCD running on it, and use the Linux method, after
attaching the card reader to the VM]
If you find it hard to use the Linux method in VM, you can install WinXP in VM
and use the windows method again.
Please report of success or failure, so we can close the issue.

btw, you did not said, have you successfully installed the testfir.fir ?

Latest attempts, today... using WinXP in a VM. After using the EOSCard
Utility, the utility confirms that the card is "bootable".
I believe that the testfir.fir installed. I selected the update firmware
option, from the menu, the screen shows that it is starting firware update,
then goes blank. I let it sit for 2 or more minutes. Turn power off, remove
battery. Replace battery and power on.
I then copy the Bin folder contents the CF card. Put the card in the camera,
and don't see the DP (direct print) button LED flash. No "special" menus.
I'll try another card. So far, I have been trying with a 4GB Lexar CF card.
Any addition ideas?

Tried another CF card... went through the whole process again, including the
testfir.fir step. No luck.

Any way to confirm that the testfir.fir installed?

testfir.fir should be installed only once per camera.
making the card bootable should be done on every CF card you wish to use with
400Plus.
btw do you copy the "bin" folder itself or only it's contents ? you should copy
only the contents of the bin folder into the root folder of the CF card.

Hi. Finally resolved... Windows 7 was the culprit. Didn't matter if it
was 32bit or 64bit. Also, the XP Mode VM, running from Windows Virtual PC,
did not work.
I was able to get this to work by using an older laptop with Windows XP.
Thanks for all of the replies! And thanks for the code!
