Camera unresponsive after testfir.fir installation #269

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Verified Firmware to be 1.1.1
2. Followed instructions, installed testfir.fir, waited four minutes, turned
off, pulled battery
3. Turned camera back on, CF led flashes, power led remains off, screen is black
4. If CF card contains an autoexec.bin (prepared via MacBoot), the blue led
will also flash when turning camera on.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Camera should continue to be usable after flashing testfir.fir.

What version of the product are you using?
testfir: Feb 4, 2011
20120415-11

Please provide any additional information below.
Camera is currently bricked until this gets resolved. Have also tried placing
original 1.1.1 firmware image on CF, but nothing happens.

Update: Please disregard. Camera started working again after removing 3rd party
battery grip and reinstalling original door.

Though this is very strange, have you tried to replace the batteries in the
grip ? It should work with the grip, it makes no difference to the software if
you are using (or not using) a grip.
For reference Me and Edu are using grips.

I do not think this is related to 400plus at all: probably, while moving the
card in or out of the camera, the grip moved slightly and some contact stopped
working. I would try to clean the contacts and put the grip back in; as 0xAF
commented, there is no reason why the grip should stop working after preparing
the camera.
