This was discussed between the two developers that still remain active
("firedust" and me), and we both shared the same point of view [*]:

Where should the money we receive go? It could go to the developers, for their
personal expenses. But this project is based on the efforts of people that are
no longer active, and we also gather much information and help from other
projects and their developers (350D, ML, ...). It does not seem fair not to
share the earnings with them; who should get the money, then? Money could also
go to the project, for example to buy tools: but there is currently no need to
buy anything.

Thus, we concluded that a donation box was not a good idea; and that is why
there is none.

[*] I do not want to put words in the mouths of others, however; if anybody
feels different, please feel free to chime in and share your thoughts. I'll
leave the issue open for some time.

Thanks for the suggestion, it's good to know that there is someone wanting to
donate ;)

I agree, with Edu on this. We already had a discussion about it (as he stated
above) and this is what we've decided. Perhaps if one of us have the bad luck
to brick his camera, then we may reconsider donations, so a new camera can be
bought. Let's hope that we wont need to replace cameras ;)

I believe, nothing is to be said more, we can close this.

Though if someone wants to donate the brand new Benz ;), then count me in.

I thought that might be a challenge and developers are probably spread out
around the world, etc. it can get messy. Considering there may be a feature a
user really wants but they don't have the time/skill/resources to do it
themselves of course, they may say "this feature is worth $x to me" to add an
incentive for a developer to pursue it... or to tip a developer afterwards for
a feature they really appreciate. Some kind of micropayments like "buy me a
beer/coffee/tea". I appreciate FOSS and volunteer development and want to
encourage it as well. Or perhaps a pay-it-forward kind of thing where donations
can be made in the name of "400plus" to a related charity.

Ok, also didn't realize it was just the two of you... so that must make group
consensus issues easy to resolve!

I didn't mention clearly enough in my last comment, but
donations-direct-to-developer sounds simple and appropriate to me. So at the
closing out of an issue for example, the log could state "code completed by
[developername]" or with an "80% developer1/20% developer2", with an included
email address tied to a paypal acct (doesn't have to be used, e.g.
"firedust400plustips@gmail") so at least there's a method available.

Well, there are only two active developers; then there is the people who help
with the translations, the people who make detailed bug reports, or fixes the
documentation, the people who proposes great features, ... There is also the
people who started this project long time ago, and are no longer active; the
people at the 350D project, from whom we have "stolen" lots of info; the people
at the ML project, who have been of great help, ...

I applaud your intentions, and I am really grateful for your considerate offer;
but now that all parties involved have spoken, and declared their intentions
not to receive any money, I think it is time to close this issue. Thank you
very much!
