HA Climate control switch failing to activate the car climate control #65

Just started happening recently where toggling the AC switch in the HA integration throws the following error.

This error originated from a custom integration.

Failed to send request to car - 'str' object has no attribute 'items'

Controls via the CUPRA app work fine and other controls via the HA integration work OK, (such as setting the AC temperature). HA also reflects the status of the AC when turned on via the CUPA app or directly in the car so the data is flowing just not the act of turning it on.

HA Details Core: 2024.7.1 Supervisor: 2024.06.2 Operating System: 12.4 Frontend: 20240405.0

It's not related to the Core update. I stepped back to 2024.6.4 and the issue was still there so perhaps it's a change on the CUPRA end is nothing has changed elsewhere.

Absolutely marvellous @daernsinstantfortress that is great to hear. First world problems I know but I have really missed my zone triggered climate activation automation on HA. Fixing this will mean I can get back to a suitably cooled/heated car after a long hike; which generally of late, have been very wet! Thanks for the work on this.

Grab v0.8.3 using HACS and let me know how you get on.

The buttons are working now, thanks! But the Remaining Climatisation Time status is now displaying unkown, wich is a minor thing.

Same here, buttons work now but Remaining Climatisation Time now reports as Unknown. It would be nice if that could be fixed too.

I concur. The button now activates the climate control so this issue can be closed now. Thanks! Excellent response as usual. As for the Remaining Climatisation Time, I never new that was exposed in HA until now. I never used it in the native app so that's a minor thing. Initial reported issue now fixed so this can be closed.
