This is the end goal. At this stage we want a non-concurrent, working version
of the
editor. As the project progresses and the environment scales we'll be able to
add
some of the collaboration features that you see in Google Docs.

Hi, collaboration is definitely a high priority feature for me. My reasoning is
that: this is the biggest benefit of having something like latex-lab as opposed
to just Dropbox+your favorite desktop latex editor.
We tried using a shared document (before reading through the issues list) and
reproduced this issue perfectly :)
cheers,

In the mean time, documenting what is possible at the moment would be helpful;
I assumed that LaTeX for Google Docs would support the same types of
collaboration.

We also have "perfectly reproduced" this issue...The Point(tm) of Google Docs
for my team is collaborative LaTeX editing; it defeats the purpose of Google
Docs if our team must maintain separate copies.
We were hoping to use LaTeX Lab instead of SVN+local editors, but now I'm not
so sure...

I agree with comment #2, petko. Most of us have great TeXing abilities on the
local end. We are looking for the ability to TeX with our friends and
colleagues to work on the same reports, letters, documents, etc.. Most would
think this should be the main concern on this project even though it isn't a
bug, but a feature.

At least, please develop sharing feature. It keeps to be "non-concurrent"
editing, as long as not allow different people editing the same document at the
same time.

I tried manually switching owner of a document in Google docs (only one owner
at a time). Latex-lab seems not recognize it. Keep reporting that new version
google docs are not supported. But the document is actually of old version of
google docs.

I think without the ability to have collaboration and live editing available
renders this to be just another desktop program/application. It would be nice
to also have it function with a chat feature just like in other google docs, so
that users can discuss while editing.

Hi I am agree with most of the comments, my priority is a collaborative system
because it does not have a strong sense with out this characteristic.
If you only can make some files in \LaTeX on the web is better and much more
faster in your own computer than the on the web.

Yes please add support for concurrent editing, this is a crucial requirement
for us to be able to use this project!!

For me this is the most important feature to move away from a pretty well
configured local LaTeX environment. Currently we usually edit documents with
Google Docs, then export them to Word and finish up the layout there. As you
know, this gives big headaches for large documents. Having a collaborative
editor like Google Docs for LaTeX would just be awesome.
To achieve this, could we somehow help? I'd be glad to help implementing this
feature. What would be the steps to achieve it?

It looks to me like that issue is this platform is using the old version of
Google Doc's API, if it were updated to the latest it might just work
automagically, but I think the project isn't being developed any longer by the
dev..

I would like to say that I too think that without the collaborative and live
editing features that characterize Google Docs, this project renders almost
useless for me, which I think it is a pity because it really looked like it was
what I was looking for. For now, back to editing Latex inside Google Docs,
which is very bad, but at least gives me collaborative and live editing...
Good work and effort though.
Thank you

Has anybody tried Share LaTeX? It claims to address the collaborative & live
editing features: https://www.sharelatex.com/
