This is the bedroom musician that needs more ease of use and cares more about the final price point than the pro does.

Cost: Attainable, value is important. Capping around £500 with loads of features, and beating the boss if it's simpler. UI: simple and usable straight out of the box, uncomplicated setup for simple operation. Offers more features under menus to be used if they want. Would prefer a screen to access hidden options. Data Interface: XLR mic, quarter inch synth in, quarter inch output. Would like midi in for an internal synth. Size: Not too bulky. Fits in the corner of a desk sort of thing. Case: shouldn't slide around, stable on a table. Should be enclosed. Ability to update software, either just an update or to let the amateur make their own changes. Kit form may appeal to some electronically minded amateurs.
