Since this document does not define specific representations of embedded metadata, it is not reasonable to eliminate one possible representation.

Proposed Change: We propose to drop 7.3

(Clause 7.3)

mattgarrish commented 4 years ago

7.3 is not excluding any metadata vocabulary that can be expressed using the package document's meta tags. All it does is clarify that the link element cannot be used to link to records.

Accepted

Action: make Clause 7.3 a note.

mattgarrish commented 4 years ago

Rather than make 7.3 a note, I think we can do without it provided we make the lists in 7.2 slightly clearer.

What I propose is to add "in the EPUB Package Document metadata section" to the end of each, so we get sentences like:

Discoverable EPUB Publications shall include the following accessibility metadata in the EPUB Package Document metadata section:

It's a stretch to say that a linked record with accessibility metadata meets this requirement.

Any thoughts?

Personally, I feel that this would be a major change. If we want to do this, it could come at the next revision at the W3C.

My $.02

mattgarrish commented 4 years ago

So do we reject making it a note and leave it as-is?

murata2makoto commented 4 years ago

JWG7 has not officially agreed on the comment disposition yet. Francis (SC34 chair) and I asked Yong-Sang and Sam Oh to have a JWG7 teleconf. In that teleconf, we might want to have a look at this issue.
