Apparently that link has been hacked by somebody.
How do you know?
the domain isn't hacked. it simply expired
Hmm. You're right. I guess the domain for fxdeviantart expired again.
@daisyUniverse @Kaleidosium Could you perhaps renew the site please?
Unfortunately I am not in control of the domain, you'd have to wait for Daisy to respond, sorry!

That's alright. I hope you can get in touch with Daisy and let them know!
as it currently stands, renewal and continuation of the project is unlikely
well that's disappointing news. :/
In the meantime you can use fixdeviantart (made by me, basically the same thing but hosted as a cf worker. Source at https://github.com/Tschrock/fixdeviantart)

Unless @daisyUniverse is willing to renew the domain (which is unlikely if they haven't done it by now) it's definitely not continuing. I was even going to pay for the domain myself and hopefully transfer it over to them (or at least host it myself) but it looks like I can't even do that right now:
So it's probably gonna be another month or so until it gets auctioned off or deleted, which people would probably lose interest by the time that happens.

Thanks for the alternative. :)

Heya, thanks for hosting this. Tho I did notice that this does not generate preview images for NSFW content, which fxdeviantart was very good to use for so people don't have to login before previewing an image, it's what I used that domain most for.
Currently trying to contact the repo owner, tho so far it seems they went silent a few months ago in general on social media and in general :( Hope nothing serious happened...
Blog doesn't have an update since March 2023, their linked Twitter is gone, Ko-Fi still seems to have active supporters, Instagram seems to be the platform most likely to reach them so far tho also no new posts since May 2023.
Gonna try and see if I can somehow get in contact with them and if the domain is "forever gone" now or not.
I just made a payment towards Namecheap to get "fxdeviantart.com" renewed for another year via a third-party request. If the original buyer doesn't decline the payment within 24 hours the domain should be up and running by that point again.
Hope this means that no scammer or other bad actor will get control of the domain meanwhile.
The domain "fxdeviantart.com" is safe again!
I was able to make a "third party payment" towards Namecheap which now reinstated the domain, this means it's safe for another year ❤️ You can safely use it again to link to art there!

@EpicLPer I specifically made it to display NSFW content, as well as Member-only content (which fx doesn't do). Do you have an example URL you can send me to test what's wrong with it?
Also restoring someone's domain when they've abandoned it seems... ill-advised. Even if the domain is restored that doesn't guarantee the backend server will keep running, and it prevents anyone else from picking up the domain and continuing it (which was what I was going to try if it didn't get renewed)

I assume they're talking about Telegram, where fx does indeed work, but fix doesn't.
I believe this is the issue: https://github.com/Tschrock/fixdeviantart/blob/c1894b55bd1dbdc9be2c3e8db2d8b92abab7825b/src/index.ts#L51-L52
fx simply has origin = "https://deviantart.com/" + subpath
(and no www)
whereas fix uses the request url const url = new URL(request.url)
My guess is that Telegram prefixes the link with www
, and then the meta tag has www.deviantart.com/...
, which Telegram follows and returns the basic DeviantArt url
As for an example url, take one from https://www.deviantart.com/diives

I'm gonna be honest I was impressed that people were still using this at all, I had not planned to keep this running due to the fact that it's kind of just been a passive money drain that I don't really ever hear about anyone ever using. I'm happy to keep the script running but if you know anything about my history with things like fxtwitter you might know why I am hesitant to do much more than that. when @EpicLPer renewed the domain it was shown to me that people were still getting use out of it however, and I have not yet seen anyone else running their own instance or shard of this, so I'll just continue paying the (admittedly small) fees for as long as is reasonable. Though as you can see, I can't really be relied on to jump in and fix things quickly due to a variety of life factors
EDIT: Oh, it looks like someone else HAS been hosting an alternative ! I would suggest that anyone who is invested in this project start to look into @Tschrock 's 'fixdeviantart' project as an alternative in case problems arise in the future
https://www.fxdeviantart.com seems to be down - I click on a link with that URL and it shows this I don't really know where else to bring this, so sorry if this isn't the right avenue to raise attention to this issue
