We should be using all available functions from the dspline package: https://github.com/ryantibs/dspline.

Most important:

Key are those in matrix_construction.cpp and matrix_multiplication.cpp.
These need to be able to be LinkedTo. (currently blocked)

However:

That package uses RcppEigen rather than RcppArmadillo. I think the easiest thing to do is to remove our own dependence on Armadillo (we actually need very little of it).
