ripgrep is great, but there's a fork with significant advantages over it, one of them is caching , which alone is a killer feature , but it can also search in pdfs and other file formats

I am not aware of that tool. Does it have a different command line interface? Otherwise just customizing rg-executable may be all you neeed.
