Hey @dan might this be fixed by the new google photos api?
@stewface, unfortunately not, we'll need to add some functionality on our side for this to work. We're currently investigating this to make sure it's possible. I'll post here with any updates. Thanks.
Or, better yet you could just play the video!
Awesome - thanks Dan.
Looking forward to it as I start taking more and more videos! Adding life & motion to these photo screens will be fantastic!
Also - it would be great to be an option to turn off if required.
I agree. This would be a great feature. I have several short videos that would be great to display on the screen. Any updates on this?
@danking6 Bump
Yay for bumps
@danking6 Any luck investigating this one? Even if we could just hide videos for the moment so the play icon doesn't come up in the photo slideshow that would be a great first step.
Might need to wait for Rasp Pi 5 to handle videos running (Anyone tested how well they perform with videos in browser on the Pi 4 with 4gb ram?)
I also agree. This is a great idea!
I also agree it would be great to be able watch videos from my google photos album. I've been able to make a few of them into GIF's which works alright, but the resolution is way low and it is choppy.
Confirmed, this issue is still persistent. I'd like the ability for it to autoplay the video.
Thank you for taking the time to make suggestions to DAKboard, the majority of new features are developed from feedback from the community like yours. At the moment we have reviewed this request and unfortunately this is not a route we are looking to take with the product at this time. This is due to the complexity of the solution required, and the other video options offered on DAKboard. Please feel free to comment and add any additional context that may update the original use case and we can review.
I noticed that my screen will show a little play icon for videos that are uploaded to my google (private) account, it was very cute to see my 2 year old daughter press the (non touchscreen) picture frame I setup, but it would be great if this was a setting we could turn off to hide videos.
In an ideal world - and down the track when i've finally organised my videos the ability to autoplay video files would be really cool!
