Screen Freezing Randomly #82

Closed mgrnospam closed 1 year ago

mgrnospam commented 1 year ago

At random intervals, the screen freezes, and does not update. The clock does not change time, and the second hand of the analog clock stops moving.

I cannot reproduce the bug, it seem to occur randomly, 1 to 2 times per day. I restart the Raspberry Pi by unplugging it and replugging it back in, a new screen comes up that works as expected, until it freezes again.

I am running the latest (as of 3 weeks ago) DAKboard OS, on a Raspberry Pi 3 A+, output through HDMI to a large screen TV.

Hi @mgrnospam,

Thanks for reaching out to us, this can have a few root causes. The Pi 3 A+ 512mb of ram does cause some performance issues with DAKboard OS when connected to screens that have more than basic levels of content, you could try to reduce the number of blocks on your screen to see if this behavior continues temporarily to indicate if this is the root cause.

Alternatively if the freezing does follow up with a message at the bottom of the screen indicating that the network is interrupted, then the signal strength to your router could be the root cause. Better placement of the device closer to the access point can resolve this, as well as using our new DAKboard OS v3.21 if you have a mesh system for improved compatibility.

In either case, please feel free to reach out to us directly with some more specifics at the following link. If we determine this is an issue specific to all Pi3As then we can get this case reopened for investigation: https://dakboard.freshdesk.com/support/tickets/new
