Change cursor appearance on Obsidian Desktop #50

What's your idea? For 2-in-1 laptops, using a stylus results in a crosshair appearing as the pen cursor. It would be nice to have an option to change the appearance of this cursor so it is less obtrusive when writing.

Why? How would it help you (or others)? Allowing users to change the appearance of the cursor can help increase precision (for example, changing the crosshair to a dot).

Any examples or references you think are worth pointing out? The cursor for the Microsoft Surface Pen looks like this. I would like to have a cursor option that is as unobtrusive as this cursor design (though it's not necessary to look exactly like this design).

Anything else? I am using a Surface Pen on Windows 11, which is probably why there is a cursor appearing under my stylus at all (as compared to digital pens on tablets, for example).

Thanks for the detailed description. You linked to what the Surface Pen looks like, and also said you use a surface... so is that what your pen cursor looks like or is it different in ink. If so, could you take a photo so I can see what kind of cursor it is.

If it's a standard CSS controllable cursor it will be easy, but if it's OS related I'll have to dig deeper.

The standard cursor for Surface Pen: surface-pen-cursor The cursor when hovering over Obsidian Ink: obsidian-ink-cursor I'm hoping that it's not OS-related. For some reason, the Obsidian Excalidraw shows a slightly different crosshair, which (hopefully) suggests it might not be OS-related: obsidian-excalidraw-cursor
