full radiation documentation? #62

The documentation of the input files for full radiation scheme seems to be missing, making it difficult to edit them.

The modradfull takes a few input files (ckd.inp., backrad.inp., cldwtr.inp.*), however neither of them are in the format that would be self descriptive. Specifically, "ckd.inp.*" describes absorption bands for different gases, however neither it appears that neither units nor altitude data are described. I have also checked the source materials on full radiation scheme ([https://doi.org/10.3894/JAMES.2009.1.1] , [https://doi.org/10.1175/1520-0469(1997)054<2799:MSPITI>2.0.CO;2]) without success.

Please, does any of you know where to find the input file description?

Dear Jan, the ckd.inp and cldwtr.inp files are indeed something like a black box. In contrast to backrad.inp which includes variables that describe the state of the atmosphere the ckd and cldwtr are both files that we usually do not touch. We got the Fu-Liou scheme with McICA option from Bjorn Stevens and Robert Pincus, perhaps they can refer you to a proper reference. Best, Stephan

Dear Stephan, thank you for the response. I will try to contact the authors (since none of the aforementioned papers provide link to the file description).

Although the ckd.inp and cldwtr.inp files work well, it is not clear how to modify them for different latitudes and different seasons. They both seems to be defined for some kind of subtropical zone.
