What about dynamic tags set based on a set of criteria? Could create
automatically
aggregated genres this way. Basically a filter in the view system. Just make
manual
tags part of the filtering system? Would they be needed elsewhere? How about a
custom
Tag / Filter subsystem accessible anywhere.

Going to put this on hold for now while working on the GUI. Some of the
filtering and
querying for the GUI will overlap so I'll come back to this for 1.0.

In current gui you can add a watchfolder.
I would like to assign a "tag" or category to each folder, and have it
automatically
populated.
I use separate folders for my "categories"
z:\media\Movies (tag "Movies General")
z:\media\MoviesXXX (tag "Movies Special")
z:\media\MoviesKids (tag "Kids")
z:\media\MoviesMY (tag "His Movies")
z:\Media\MoviesWife (tag "Her Movies")
Also assigning a PIN (or access right to a user) is a must for each watchfolder.

Tagging will definitely allow auto tags based on import folder, you'll be able
to do
what you're asking for. I will keep this in mind when implementing it though
and make
sure to test this case specifically. This and Parental Controls (Issue #11)
probably
wont be included until two versions down the line though. Baby steps. ><

We should allow the user to set a custom field as an "override" for an actual
field.
If they have a field called MyGenre that auto-populates similar to pirania's
suggestion, the user should then be able to say I want this displayed as
"Genre" on
the GUI.

Will this ever be included? At the moment, I create user defined fields using
the "User rating" - 1 = Family, 2 = adult, etc.
But it should be possible to create user defined tags, that don't depend on
file system folders.
