Moving Pictures is a movies plug-in for the MediaPortal media center application. The goal of the plug-in is to create a very focused and refined experience that requires minimal user interaction. The plug-in emphasizes usability and ease of use in managing a movie collection consisting of ripped DVDs, and movies reencoded in common video formats supported by MediaPortal.

old streamedmp skin installed with 0.7.2 #379

Before installing MovingPictures 0.7.2 i had installed streamedmp 0.5.361
which had new features for MovingPictures like sorting. I installed 0.7.2,
i chose not to install any skin (I think there was no checkbox for
streamedmp), and after the install i didnt have the same streamedmp skin
anymore. I had lost the sort feature. I suppose there might be an old
streamedmp skin installed with 0.7.2. If i remember correctly i had the
same problem with the 0.7.1

What version of Moving Pictures are you using? What version of MediaPortal?
0.7.2

Sorting has nothing to do with the skin as it is totally handled by the menu
system
and is all encapsulated in the plugin itself. Sorting should work fine even if
you
are using a skin from when Moving Pictures was first released last fall. It
sounds to
me like you might inadvertently have installed an older version of Moving
Pictures?
Or maybe you have an old and a new DLL in your plug-in folder, possibly an old
one
that has just been renamed?

OK there must be something really wrong because if install 0.7.2 i lose the sort
entries in the switch view menu . If i reinstall the skin (which must have an
older
version of movingPictures), i get it back. With 0.7.2 when i do switch view i
get the
old menu where i can choose between list view, icon....
Any idea?

Like I said above I think you are either confused about what version you are
installing, or you have multiple versions of the movingpictures.dll in your
plug-in
folder (possibly one just renamed). Did you check for this?

I tested by installing with the zip version, i still have the same problem. The
only
thing i see is that the skin might not be up to date with MovingPictures and
load the
wrong menu.
I checked my install and i have no multiple version.

About the version i use, i always check the dll version to be sure.

Like I said it has nothing to do with the skin. The only way it's possible for
sorting to not show up in the context menu is if you have the wrong version
installed
or something is failing (in which case there would be errors in your log file.

If you have an old version in your plugin folder you renamed to something like
old_movingpictures.dll that may cause the issue.

If you still are not getting things to work and feel confident there is a bug
at
play, can you post your debug log files from when you reproduced the error as
well as
screen shots of the context menu on which the sorting options are not displayed?

I am not sure it s a bug. Could something have changed in the skin dev api? I
will
post log+screenshot during the weekend.
Thanks for your concern

Any update on this Martin?

Sorry about the lack of update, i had no time for me.
So here s what i have.

I checked and i dont have double version. I also updated streamedmp to the last
version. It doesnt seem to be an old version installed anymore as it still
happens
after a new install of streamedmp. Yet there something wrong.
Do you use streamedmp? if yes what menu do you have?

It really looks to me like you are running an old version. What version number
is
listed on the about screen of the config? If it is 0.7+ can you post your debug
logs
from when the GUI is running? movingpictures.log and error.log.

And what button are you pressing to bring up the context menu? Are your
clicking the
switch view button? Because this brings up the change view context menu not the
main
menu context menu. For the main context menu you should be pressing the Menu
button
on your remote or F9 on the keyboard.

Ok thanks to your last update i finally found out that the problem was that now
the
sort order is in the context menu, and not the right menu. I am really sorry i
could
n t imagine it would be there. But now i know. Just a question by the way, is
this
skin related? can i change this behavior just by changing the skin.? I would
prefer
to hhave the sort order in the right menu, as sorting is not "contextual"

thanks anyway

Well it is sort of skin related because the button on the side bar is linked to
the
filter menu. Unfortunately we do not have a button that launches the sorting
menu or
context menu though, so as of right now, I think the only option is to use the
context menu button (F9). I have expanded Issue #396 to include additional
buttons
for sorting, and the movie details context menus though, so you should have
more
options in Moving Pictures 0.8.
