Moving Pictures is a movies plug-in for the MediaPortal media center application. The goal of the plug-in is to create a very focused and refined experience that requires minimal user interaction. The plug-in emphasizes usability and ease of use in managing a movie collection consisting of ripped DVDs, and movies reencoded in common video formats supported by MediaPortal.

Playing Blu-ray disc results in "Media not available" #699

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Import Blu-Ray (Disc or ISO) in the MovingPicture Database
2. Start Mediaportal, navigate to Moving Pictures
3. Start the Movie I've just imported. Failure, "Medium not availabe" (Disc
still inside or ISO mounted)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect it to start PowerDVD9 and play the Blu-Ray Disc. Instead it
doesn't recognize the disc and says: "Medium not availabe".
With the previous Version Moving Pictures 0.75 it worked fine.
I think it could be because of MediaInfo?

What version of Moving Pictures are you using? What version of MediaPortal?
What Skin?
Moving Pictures 1.0 Beta 2 (Worked with 0.75)
MediaPortal 1.10 Beta SVN 24281
Black Glass 2.0

Please attach a screenshot and logs if possible. When submitting log files
please submit DEBUG logs. See here for details:

Pictures you can find here. By the way, the next post has the same problem.

Can you take a look at Issue #686? I think this may be the same problem, and if
it is
then we should have a resolution ready for our next release (hopefully an RC
will be
pushed out in the next few days).

Looked at Issue #686 before, but there were problems with playing the Blu-Ray
Iso or
Disc.

My Problem is, that it doesn't even want to play.
It just says that the Medium is not available, even right afer importing it.

When I reinsert the Disc it makes a new entry in the Database with the exact
same name,
but it still won't play.

Any thoughts on this apondman? You fixed the other Bluray issue.

I have the same issue with the German Blu-ray "Postal Directors Cut", where the
Volume ID is "Postal DC", other Blurays without a space in the VolumeID work
just
fine, maybe thats the Problem?

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Hi Philip,
when you look at the pictures in the forum, you can see that the Blu-Ray I
tested was
named "T2_Features" so there is no space in the title.

I tested 4 Blu-Rays and all had the same issues (ISOs too).
Have a buddy who hast the exact same problem. (MovingPictures 1.00Beta2)
He says with MovingPictures 0.75 it worked fine.

Hmm, i also have another Problem: MovingPictures cant read the mediainfo for
this
Blu-ray, only when a certain software from sly soft ist enabled...

The MediaInfo issue with Bluray disks is covered in Issue #683. I think we have
the
problem resolved but if you have anything to add, head on over there.

As for the Bluray playback issue I really think that the changes for Issue #686
probably corrected this. I am going to push out a new release today or tomorrow
so you
guys can test, and I will leave this issue open until then.

Sorry for the (incredibly) long delay for the new release. :/ But it can be
downloaded
here:

I'd highly recommend anyone having Bluray issues to check out the new build. It
will
hopefully resolve the issues you are seeing. Please post results of testing in
this
thread. :)

Well, installed the Beta3 on my HTPC today. (Clean Mediaportal Installation)
Still have the exact same issue as described in the first post.
Moving Pictures detects the Disc and imports it in the Database. Then I'm
starting
Mediaportal navigating to the Film and try to start it. MediaPortal says that
the
Medium is not available (Disc still inside). If I eject and reinsert the Disc
it's
still not working.

i will investigate, can someone produce me some debug logs of when this happens?

Original comment by apond...@gmail.com on 10 Feb 2010 at 7:15

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
i think i've located the problem and the part of the logs i'm interested in is
the
import of the disc and the playback part. There seems to be some inconsistency
in
reading the discid for a bluray which in turn will cause the media not
available.

The setting "Data Source Manager Enhanced Debug Mode" does not exist anymore?

A MP Debug Log is attached.

issue notes:

1) bluray discid is stored in the wrong hex format (#A-#A-#A instead of #A#A#A)
2) bluray discs that did not have a disc id generated for whatever reason
always
will be unavailable. empty string does not match empty string?

Original comment by apond...@gmail.com on 16 Feb 2010 at 11:23

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Fixed in r1057

will just ignore the disc id for bluray.. will readd support in 1.1 so we have
some
time to figure out what exactly was going on.

Well planter88 stated in IRC that this change did not resolve the issue, but
was
unfortunately unable to provide logs. Can anyone else please test if this
change does
or does not resolve the issue for you? If it does not can you please post new
debug log
files?

Hmm, I'm afraid, but my test results are confusing (me).
It seems mounted Images doesn't work at all. They are imported, and again not
available in MP or MP freezes when trying to play.

Logs:
01a: Import of an Image
01b: MP-freeze when trying to play

02a: Importing an image
02b: Not found when trying to play

03a: Importing a disc
03b: Playing the disc with no problem.

04a: Importing a disc, importer stoped responding but disc was added to the
database
04b: MP freezes when trying to play.

The importer was sometimes very, very slow. I tried about 5 disks and 5 Images,
took
about 2,5 hours ;)
