I had similar weird issues, however I don't think I've seen it after upgrading
Mediaportal to RC2

To begin with, sorry for the late response. :(
The video issues are related to a bug in MediaPortal that should be fixed in
the
latest Release Candidate, I suggest you consider upgrading. This issue did have
to do
with Moving Pictures in that it uses an unusual method to handle artwork
loading, but
the fix was required in MediaPortal. If you upgrade and still have problems
please
open a new issue and we can look into it.
As for your slow startup issues, this may be a real bug but I am having a hard
time
figuring out how you could be getting the error message you are receiving.
Could you
give any more information about your network shares? What OS it the remote
system
running? Your main system? And in the meantime could you (or have you since
tried)
upgrading to the latest version of Moving Pictures?

Hi. I had to stop using Moving Pictures because of the errors, and went back
to
using the normal video method. However, with RC2 (and now RC3) I had another
go with
Moving Pictures, and most of my issues have gone. I can use Moving Pictures
now.
BUT..... the problem at para 1 still exists. When I first start MediaPortal, I
simply can't watch any video for 10-15 mins as nothing starts. I normally have
to
stop MP through Task Mgr and processes. Admittedly, I've not waited 10-15 mins
to see
what happens! My router software shows my network activity, and shows constant
access locally (ie nothing out onto the internet) for the 10-15 mins. If I wait
for
the network activity to cease, then MP and Moving Pictures works great.
1. I run MP over wireless to the router from which the network share is now
connected
via wired LAN. (On my original post my share was also wireless, but to another
PC).
2. The share is now a Linksys mediahub with some 300 films in about 15 folders.
3. I'm running XP Home SP3. The share is a mapped drive. The wireless
connectivity is
excellent and showing 54Mbps.
4. Running latest RC3 and moving-pictures-1.0.4 versions.
5. If I try and watch TV Series (the files are on the same share) the issue is
the
same until the initial network activity ceases.
Hope this helps.

Okay we will take a look. Would you mind posting a new movingpictures.log while
running
in debug mode? Just start up MediaPortal let things go for as long as you can
bear,
then shut down.
Also do you see similar issues when launching the Moving Pictures config panel?

Here are my Debug logs. I've also included a screenshot with some notes from
my router
showing network activity. By the way I use normal Blue3Wide skin.
1. Red. Started MP (6.05am) and after about 2 minutes I tried to watch Alice
in
Wonderland. As normal, there was no response from MP. Task Manager showed
Fullscreen
video as not responding so I stopped the process. 6.13am. Logs attached.
2. Blue. Started MP and didn't watch anything (watching TV or listening to
music is
fine). 6.14am. The network activity finishes at 6.28am. Video works fine.

Thanks for the info, we will look into this. FYI it may take another few days
as we are
trying to get 1.0 Final out the door.
So one more question, I am pretty sure this is at the least, indirectly caused
by
Moving Pictures but have you tired disabling it and playing a video through
TV-Series
or My Videos to see if the problem persists?

No problems about timing, I can work around easily by just waiting! I just
appreciate
all the work you are doing - a great app TY :)
1. Disabled Moving Pictures. No network activity on MP startup and video plays
pretty
much immediately using My Videos.
2. Disabled TV-Series. Issue still occurs when trying to play video with
Moving
Pictures during network activity.

....OK, tried this. Sadly this didn't work for me. On startup the long delay
occurs when Mediaportal has just started - the film does start eventually but
only after my network (wifi) activity has finished.
However, I did notice an improvement in navigating through Moving Pictures
menus - quicker than before.
