Moving Pictures is a movies plug-in for the MediaPortal media center application. The goal of the plug-in is to create a very focused and refined experience that requires minimal user interaction. The plug-in emphasizes usability and ease of use in managing a movie collection consisting of ripped DVDs, and movies reencoded in common video formats supported by MediaPortal.

MP-TV backround import resets Moving Pictures view when Moving Pictures is active (Port of MP-TV Defect) #922

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I have ported the history of a defect I originally opened on MP-TV as there is
some question as to which plug-in is causing the issue. This is tracked as
issue 396 in MP-TV bug tracker...

Reported by berg...@rogers.com, Apr 20, 2010

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load Moving Pictures as the active plugin in Filmstrip View
2. Have the default view in MP-TV be list view
3. Put a new file onto the hard drive into a location where MP-TV series is
monitoring such that an import is triggered in the backround

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Expect no visible impact in Moving Pictures view instead it appears that
MP-TV is applying the list view impacting the text layout of Moving
Pictures when the import is complete. End up with text on top of the
filmstrip view poster icons (corrected by any activity which causes the
view to reload).

What version of MP-TVSeries and MediaPortal are you using?
MediaPortal v1.0.2.22555 (also observed in 1.1 RC1)
MP-TVSeries.dll File Version : 2.5.3.1008

What Skin are you using?
Monochrome skin

On what operating system?
Windows XP (Service Pack 3)

Please provide any additional information below e.g. Logs & Pictures.
This is not new behaviour as I have observed it for a while. Just realised
that it was the MP-TV import that was triggering the text layout change. If
necessary I can see about grabbing a screen capture.

Upgrade CPU?

It doesnt touch the layout of movingpics, its most likely that your system
isn't powerful or that movingpictures is the one reacting badly.

I have noticed movingpics is slow and not working well when watching live tv
minimized.

It must be moving pictures then. Definitely not CPU related as I do not have a
tuner installed and am not viewing any video at the time (I use an external
player). I am simply in the moving pictures film view with nothing else going
on. This is a dedicated media server and has no other background apps running
other than a virus scanner.

I have a friend who also uses Media Portal and has the same issue.

It could also be your skin re-acting badly to some event.

Weird... my friend and I are using different skins. I don't remember his but I
am using monochrome. As far as issues go it is pretty harmless, just one of
those nuisance things. I can try some other skins and see if I still see it
though.

Thanks for the feedback.

Ok, I just noticed the same issue when using thumbs view in MovingPictures...im
pretty sure this is a movingpics bug though.

You would have better perspective on that than me... it is an unusual
interaction for sure.

Can you please post debug log files from when you reproduced this issue?
Ideally I would need movingpictures.log, mediaportal.log and mp-tvseries.log.
