Moving Pictures is a movies plug-in for the MediaPortal media center application. The goal of the plug-in is to create a very focused and refined experience that requires minimal user interaction. The plug-in emphasizes usability and ease of use in managing a movie collection consisting of ripped DVDs, and movies reencoded in common video formats supported by MediaPortal.

Would be nice if you reuse the implementation of MP-TVSeries for supporting
sync with http://trakt.tv/

MP-TVSeries issue number 523:
http://code.google.com/p/mptvseries/issues/detail?id=523

damien is familiar with that ;)

Thanks,
Yoav

I fully support such a feature!

Sorry but we have our own product that is in direct competition with Trakt,
Moving Pictures Social (http://social.moving-pictures.tv/). Right now we are
planning on rebranding in the short term and expanding to TV Shows as well as
other HTPC platforms in the medium term. Because of this we have no plans to
implement Trakt support. Sorry!

And sorry, I should have mentioned above, Moving Pictures Social is already
implemented into Moving Pictures. Sign up on the website and you will get
instructions and a link to a beta build of Moving Pictures that supports the
site.

What is your opinion of me supplying a patch that implements this and then it
is down to user opinion.

To be fair I would find it hard to start backing _another_ site when there is
already one established that is not only already supported by mptvseries but
also cross platform via their public api.

Please try to see it from our perspective. Quoting you, "to be fair I would
find it hard to start backing _another_ site when there is already one
established". Moving Pictures Social is ALREADY INTEGRATED with Media Portal
and Moving Pictures. Implementing support for trakt.tv would mean we would have
to redo a large amount of work that we have already completed.

And then as I mentioned above, Moving Pictures Social is our horse so to speak.
Its a project that we have invested a lot of time and effort in. After the last
years worth of work we have no interest in now giving the competition a leg up.

So I am very sorry, and our stance may change in the future, but there are no
current plans to implement support for any other social movie sites at the
moment, including trakt.tv. And because we are invested in a competing product,
it is highly unlikely we would accept a patch implementing support.

For what its worth it would be possible to create a MediaPortal process plugin
that implements trakt.tv integration. Moving Pictures provides multiple events,
classes, and methods for other plugins to pull data from.

I'd love to support moving pictures social, but it must have support for tv
series as well, so there's only one site for movies and series in mp.
Also, the facebook integration as described in the functional requirements
would be great!
Implement those two major features, and there's no need for takt imho. :-)

As you mentioned, both are planned. We just want to make sure when we add new
features we do it right.

Out of curiosity, what would you like to see from Facebook integration?

If I leave out the description in functional requirements and think off the top
of my head:
1. After watching a movie, in the rating popup, option to upload to facebook:
 -review/comment
-DVD Cover and name of movie
 -Rating
ie. The movie will appear as an uploaded image in my facebook wall with a comment and rating

2. Same with TV Series episode

3. Alternative option is to automatically upload a movie that is rated 8 or
above(Configurable)

Too bad there is no user decision for this, since I'd prefer to use trakt.tv
(right now). Or an option to do both..

Moving Pictures is intentionally designed to allow other plugins to integrate
with it. All the events and accessor methods needed to integrate trakt via a
process plugin are available. If there is enough demand I am sure someone will
create it. All I am saying is that WE will not be implementing it ourselves. I
think this is a reasonable position as trakt is directly competing with our own
product. We like what they are doing, but we simply are in another camp. I hope
you understand.
