It is notable that the existing solution on Makecode ( https://makecode.microbit.org/device/data-analysis/viewing ) is able to connect to the Micro:bit via USB without any installation of any software at all on the computer (using WebUSB). I've got no idea how complicated this kind of thing would be to implement, but it would make any scope software much more accessible to primary/secondary school users.
