I was installing OpenWrt on my Linksys E8450 with stock firmware version 1.2.0. It refused to install the 1.0.01 image (would stuck on "Please Wait"). Also for this firmware version, aborting the wizard is impossible. I ended up flasing the _signed.itb images in the firmware update panel and installed OpenWrt successfully.
