Small Issues #3

There are some small issues with nulldc that could change over time of
course ;)

1 - The emu doesnt open if the bioses arent in the data folder, what if i
just want to see how the emu is? I need to have a bios just for that?

2 - The emu doesnt recognize bioses unless they have the 2 names described
in the readme file in the data folder.

3 - There are way too many options in the menu bar, it would be better if
the emu had a BIG settings screen with tabs for: Graphics-Sound-Controller-
Etc, everything in one place instead of a separated screen for each option.

4 - The emu's window doesnt save its position in the screen, it would be
nice if did (and if the future settings windows did the same of
course. ;) )

5 - The emu isnt compressed with 7z. ;)

1 - nullDC uses LLE for the boot process so BIOS files is a requirement. Either
implementing HLE boot or an HLE BIOS should change that.

2 - Yes, manual file selection is not implemented.

3 - This is to keep things simple and compact. It could be confusing for some
people
however.

4 and 5 - Those would be nice to have. :)

Psyman,

If that's the case, would you like a BIOS selection dialog in the options and it
being configurable?

To tell you the truth, I'm not too fond of booting through HLE.

Using a dedicated BIOS will get rid of potential mess but it is too much work.

Using an option (through the emulator or a dedicated GDRom plugin) to HLE boot
is
less hassle but the system state will have to be faked (to a state that matches
the
one after the actual Dreamcast BIOS ends with the boot-up process).
This last method was used (with limited success due to lack of maintenance
amongst
others) on nullDC in the past.

Oh, if you're just referring to BIOS selection... I don't mind, it was not
required
so far... It's not like there are different Dreamcast BIOS files all over the
place. :p

Maybe it could be of use on Naomi stuff and the likes. Dunno.

I agree to point 3 from aztec.
I think its better to conig in one dialog with tabs.
The menu-way is to circuitous.

All good emus (and Games) have this.
