Did this project take off anywhere, maybe under another name?

Hi @psychemedia. This is still percolating. I've been following related but not exactly identical efforts in the Discourse, trying to understand better what might be useful.

For internal use at BNL (in an HPC context) it would be useful to have repo2docker-as-a-service sans Kubernetes, which is what I might end up building here.

I guess this is also in the hinterland, at least in the sense of building containers using repo2docker from inside JupyterHub: https://github.com/plasmabio/tljh-repo2docker It's a TLJH plugin that acts as a repo2dockerspawner and makes user selectable images/environments available built from Github repos.

In Github land, there is also this repo2docker Github Action (or this other one) that will build a container from a repo and push it to DockerHub if you add docker credentials as a secret in the repo settings.
