I'm not aware of any direct users of the perfectionist-dfd package besides assetgraph, and without spending a lot of time reinventing wheels from projects like prettier, it's pretty 'long in the tooth' (old). If there weren't other projects out there I would do the updates, but since there are, I'd simply like to give those users who haven't transitioned to other packages the time to do so.
I did a check github projects depend on my repo, and so far as I can see, they all lead through assetgraph. I feel like the old https://github.com/ben-eb/perfectionist legacy is holding you back, and my update to that repo bought/buys assetgraph time to switch to newer/better options, but that there isn't a lot of value in reinventing it for PostCSS 8.x beyond what I have already done.
I've decided to not do further enhancements to https://github.com/danielfdickinson/perfectionist-dfd . I will keep it in maintenance mode for however long it takes for https://github.com/assetgraph/assetgraph to transition away from it (well, at least until the end of 2023).
