Using "Indent" creates vertical gray bar on left of field. #763

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open a Rule
2.Press indent once or twice
3.Insert an image.
4. Preview Oppia and you will see a vertical bar for every "indent" that you
inserted that is visible to the user.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I was trying to use Indent as a formatting feature, since ther eis not a
"center" button. I wasn't expecting that a vertical gray bar would give away my
workaround!

What operating system are you using?
Yosemite 10.10.3

Please provide any additional information below.

Chrome Version 42.0.2311.135 (64-bit)

Hm, we've actually removed the 'indent' functionality in the new rich-text
editor which is coming out in the next release. Having said that, I think
perhaps the right fix here might be to allow images to be aligned left or
centered?

We also want to keep the editor simple, though. Do you think it's a significant
loss not having image-centering capability? Or perhaps images should always be
centered?

Yes, I do think it is a significant loss to not have image-centering
capability. It is something I am very accustomed to, when I see a rich-text
editor. I had an idea, however, of possibly how to not clutter the tool bar, if
clutter is a concern.

When an embedded image is selected, what if a 3-option drop-down appeared that
gave you an option of "Left | Center | Right" , or used the common alignment
symbols?

This is similar to Google Docs. When you click on an inserted image, you have
the option of "In-line | Wrap | Break text". I have attached a screenshot of
what I'm referring to in blue, and the 2 ideas in red.
