WebExtensions will probably be the future way to develop add-ons (see https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2015/08/21/the-future-of-developing-firefox-add-ons/). Check if we can modify the Firefox WebExtensions code so it supports the features we need:

get list of installed spell checker dictionaries
set spell checker for a specific textarea or element with contentEditable=true
