This currently doable with a template template and this plugin. However, not everybody has the technical skill to build such a command. And even if they do we can add some extra nice features on top, for example guessing a form on the fly from the current note properties.

A new command named edit current notes frontmatter which will open a new form with all the frontmatter properties with the best guess of what field can be used to edit them.
