I have a software which kills sound output on my 8768card #64

What soundcard to you have (make, model, chip)?
CMI-8768 stlab cmedia 7.1

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. download and install the signal generator from a homepage of a
department of my college (which I have successfully used at some
measurement class)
http://villanytan.kvk.bmf.hu/vtlabor/download/hg2004setuppackage.cab

2. try to click on the Smiley sign which should start the playback of the
preset waveform

What is the expected output? What happens instead?
-there should be some 'beeping' :) sine wave of square wave or any waveform
can be set, with at a given volume

-nothing can be heard
-and since step2 is done, no sound can be heard even not from winamp

but if I set the onboard ac97 sound as default, the software is working and
winamp can play, but if i set cmedia back theres still no sound

Dogber can you please have a look at this?

(as I've written in an older issue report I use a magicPCI card in my pc
that can restore a previously saved state of the hard drive, so I've tested
this twice, and it seems that only installing this soft. and then starting
the playback can cause this)

What version of the driver are you using? On what operating system? What
version of the operationg system are you using (32 or 64 bit)?
-1.2.4!! not the newest one

What ports of the soundcard are affected by the bug (e.g. SPDIF, Mic-In)?
-analogue out

thank you, but anyway why 8738? Some special kind? Because I think my 8768 card
has
far better sound than any other sound cards I have or I've heard, in analogue
out
mode. (SB AWE64, SBlive, SB128, AudigySE, RealtekAC97 many kinds, and I think
even
than my 8738)
