Merged branches for the groups page and synchronized database operations. This covers the pull requests #79 #80 #81 and #78. Accordingly, closes issues #56 #64 and #73. A new pull request/branch was made due to issues that merging master to the previous branches caused. See previous pull request for details on enhancements and fixes.
