Ostinato and pf_ring #61

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Machine A has pf_ring aware driver installed
2. Ostinato built with pf_ring's libpcap (Ostinato client registers the eth0
interface as PF_RING
3. PF_RING not picking up packets sent from Ostinato.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
pfcount, a sample problem with PF_RING that counts packet capture, showing
packet count go up in response to sending packets from Ostinato.
No packet capture from Ostinato is observed; pfcount can detect other packets
from the internet though

What version and revision of the product are you using (available in the
About dialog)? On what operating system?
Linux 10.04 LTS. OSTINATO Ver 0.5

Please provide any additional information below.

@furqan: How many machines are there in the topology and which app is running
where? What is your intention?

Currently, we are working on single machine only. Ostinato Drone and pf_ring
are running on the same machine on localhost.
pf_ring captures other packets from ethernet, but does not capture any sent
from Ostinato.

@furqan: do you see the packets sent by Ostinato in Wireshark? Unfortunately, I
don't have a pf_ring capable system to check on. Can you check on a non pf_ring
system? I would request you to also check with the pf_ring folks at
http://www.ntop.org/support/community-support/
