Doesn't save linked pages #268

Hi, I think maybe I just don't understand how to use this extension. I used to use the original Scrapbook extension, years ago. I want to save a page plus the pages that it links to. But I don't see how to do that. What am I missing? When I save a page, it just saves that page. When I open that archive, and then click on a link, it takes me to the actual linked page on the web, which I don't want.

Edit: okay I figured out how to save linked pages by adding htm and html and other files like css to the list of file extensions to download. However, the linked pages are very spartan...they're just the html...no images or anything. Those pages will need to link back to the first page too, and I'm not sure how to do that either.

I'm still a bit stumped...

Perhaps you mean this function (see screenshot):

scrapbookindepthsave

loopernow commented 6 years ago

I do mean that function but my extension options do not open in a pop-window like that (they open in a tab) and there is no In-depth Save section. There is a feature called Generate Site Index that is available when I click on the Web Scrapbook icon, that may be the same feature (?), but I don't understand how to use it. What extension are you using, in what browser?

I'll use this configuration: Pale Moon, a fork of Firefox, version 27.9.3 with ScrapBook X 1.14.5.

Ah, that's exactly what I was going to do, actually!--install Pale Moon. Thank you for the link to the exact extension that will work. Good to know this will work. Thanks again!

Edit: I was using Web Scrapbook, which is apparently more limited, I'm guessing because of limitations imposed by Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.

  • https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/ -> here is the ScrapBook extension for Pale Moon. Pale Moon works very well - I'll use the ScrapBook with Windows and with Lubuntu (18.04). You can select the option if you use the function "Save Page as" or if you use the function "Save Selection as" ...

To install ScrapBook X with Pale Moon you may need to download the extension first and install it then manually with the Add-On-Manager (but perhaps it will work directly). You can also install all other ScrapBook X extensions: https://github.com/danny0838/firefox-scrapbook/wiki/Addons

@loopernow For ScrapBook X, InDepth Save should do the work, as @mseliger has mentioned.

As for Web ScrapBook, it's another addon and the issue should be reported here. Unfortunately, this feature is not supported in Web ScrapBook yet. It is probably technically possible but needs some time to be implemented.
