When having a local dev setup, I have noticed that pressing ENTER (with or without a "command") results twice in the same output.

Your live website instead works fine.

I cannot locate the line in the source code responsible for that. Any idea why this could happen?

I cannot reproduce, it works fine for on Chrome. Which browser are you using?
