What steps will reproduce the problem?

1. The stantard ftp or Samba users don't write in disk. A root user was created
in Sharing\User options
2. The user root was not working to write in disk, then I deleted this user in
Sharing\User options
3. Not ssh login in Putty:
login as: root
root@192.168.0.107's password:
Access denied

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Login in PuTTY with root user.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Kernel version: 2.6.16-gazineu
NAS version: SNAKE OS V1.3.2 (20111019)
Storage Name: snake

Please provide any additional information below.

How formating and reinstall Snake OS? I don't care if I lose my data!

P.S.
I try:
1. Recreate root user in Sharing\User options
2. Hard reset
3. Firmware replacement with snakeos-V1.3.2-20111019-from-snake.zip

Are you using "opkg"? Because if so, try unplugging external hard drive and
rebooting your NAS.

Mine was not obeying to save config or rebooting via web because I have
"webondisk" package installed, and my user didn't have enough privileges to run
some commands (e.g. reboot, save config). I fixed that changing "webondisk"
folder's owner to user "root" (issuing "chown -R root:root
/usb/sda1/webondisk").
