My last Sync washed away all the UberSync fb data #16

My last sync which was supposed to be an automatic sync washed away all the UberSync fb data. I am using Xperia S running on ICS

danutchereches commented 11 years ago

I'm not sure what you mean by "washed away". Please explain.

niks4macys commented 11 years ago

So it deleted all the Uber Sync fb data from contacts ( everything) . I had to remove the fb account associated with it and re- associate to work it fine. If it happens again with automatic trigger there is some issue with the application. I will also let you know the settings which I did Sync Type: Slowest one Sync Frequency : 01 Sync all contacts: Checked Emails/b day's/notifications: Checked

Did the Facebook contacts disappear? Associate the Facebook account with what? What's the "slowest one"? Hard?

niks4macys commented 11 years ago

yes all the fb contacts disappeared along with the info synced with my phone contacts. By associate fb contact i mean Add account which comes when we start the application for the first time. Slowest one is hard , that's rite. Now this worked fine after fresh association for 3-4 days with sync frequency of 1 hour but to my shock few minutes again the contact disappeared when i checked in application it says 0 contacts sync. Now this is what I mean wash out. This is a bug. Now I would have to again do the hard work of syncing the manual links. Can you not fix this, this means I would have to turn of the frequency sync and it would negate the purpose of having this application. Please fix this to make the application usable ..

The app works fine on most devices. (especially Nexus devices) I'm not sure about Xperia, I don't have one so I can't test on it, but it should work. If not, there's not much I can do, as it's Sony's problem. They should stick to Android standards and customize only the design, not the core components.

However, problems like might also be caused by other conflicting apps.

danutchereches commented 11 years ago

Are you able to easily replicate the bug? Or is it a sort-of random event?

dragonfrog commented 11 years ago

I have something at least very like this issue as well. I'm using an HTC Wildfire S, CyanogenMod 10.1.

Every few days, Ubersync for Facebook appears to lose all its data:

I haven't noticed a set of steps that will easily cause replication, but I can do some experimenting to see if there's a particular trigger.

dragonfrog commented 11 years ago

Today, my Ubersync contacts and account configuration vanished on reboot of the phone.

When I get home, I'll connect to wifi, re-sync, and see if another reboot loses the data again.

dragonfrog commented 10 years ago

Yep, that did it - downloaded all my contact data again through UberSync, rebooted my phone, and the data is gone.

Sounds like an OS bug.

Do you store the app on the SD card? Might be something related to that.

dragonfrog commented 10 years ago

Yes, the app is on the SD card - my pokey little phone hasn't got much internal storage. On Oct 26, 2013 2:37 AM, "Danut Chereches" notifications@github.com wrote:

That's basically your problem then. The manifest states android:installLocation="internalOnly", I don't know why the OS allows it. As far as I know, all sync adapters NEED to be installed in the internal storage. http://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/install-location.html#ShouldNot

This project was discontinued. Facebook doesn't support this feature any more. Sorry.
