The more I interact with icons and interfaces, the more I prefer using both distinct colours and shapes to make options quickly recognizable. Instead of copying the existing checkmark shape let's use something distinct, like a circle with a horizontal line (-) . How about a blue line on a white circle.
Please also keep in mind icons which indicate embedded content status. I was thinking of something like "if main page okay, but embedded content still querying => big green check, with small loading icon in the corner".
White icon is implemented for whitelisted domains => Close
If a service/site is in the whitelist it should use a different icon than the green 'good.png' used for approved sites that pass quorum, so you can quickly and easily tell the difference.
Perhaps an inverse of the 'white-check-on-green-circle' and use a 'green-check-on-white-circle'?
