Since the current repo hasn't been updated in years, I created a fork and it works fine in 2022 without any errors.

sorry I meant, when you cloned the repo and ran it did the application compile and run successfully

Sorry but you should be able to do it here(posting the problem and screen shots). The code on the link worked for me
